Next-Generation Iron: Meet the DEVELON -9 Series Excavators
June 1, 2026
When you are pulling levers all day, precision and safety are not optional—they are what keep the job moving and the crew safe. DEVELON has officially rolled out the all-new -9 Series heavy excavators, ranging from the agile DX230LC-9 up to the massive DX400LC-9.
This new lineup leaves traditional pilot controls behind, integrating advanced electro-hydraulic systems and smart safety features designed specifically for demanding rigging, deep trenching, and high-volume earthmoving operations.
Built for the Operator: Key Upgrades
Electro-Hydraulic (EH) Controls & Stick Steer The -9 Series swaps out mechanical pilot sticks for a fully electronic EH control system. This allows operators to easily dial in joystick responsiveness to match their specific operating style or the demands of the task at hand. The addition of integrated stick steering directly on the joystick reduces operator fatigue during extensive travel across the site.
Advanced Lift Assist for Heavy Rigging Taking the guesswork out of rigging heavy pipe or trench boxes. The onboard Lift Assist system continuously monitors the machine’s positioning, factoring in both ground slope and chassis tilt. It provides the operator with live, real-time lifting capacities and immediate tipping hazard alerts directly on the cab monitor.
Virtual Walls & Active E-Stop Jobsite safety has been engineered directly into the machine's software. Operators can quickly program "Virtual Walls"—locking in specific height, reach, and swing limits to prevent the boom from interacting with overhead power lines or adjacent structures. Additionally, an active radar system automatically halts the machine if a person or object enters a 10-foot radius of the counterweight.
